The general checking, adjusting and setting up of a brass or woodwind instrument to make sure it is in good working order and appropriate playing condition for another year of use.
Just like getting a WOF for your car keeps you on top of all the general maintenance it requires to keep it safe to drive on the road, a general service keeps you on top of the general maintenance of your instrument. Take care of your instrument and your instrument will take care of you!

- Internal cleaning (ultrasonic and chemical cleaning available at request)
- Freeing of minimally stuck valves or tuning slides (actual valve work or damaged slide repair to be quoted separately, badly seized valve or slides to be assessed and quoted separately)
- Valve and slide lubrication
- Rotary valve re-stringing and alignment
- Checking for leaks and broken joints
- Fitting of consumable parts (cost of parts supplied charged separately)
- All instruments are play tested by our fully qualified technicians to assess playability and proper valve action etc. (Technicians use their own mouthpieces)

Notes to self:
- If you are experiencing specific problems with playability, sound production, key function etc please let us know when you bring your instrument in for servicing. We can do all the checks and improvement within a general service, but sometimes problems experienced can differ from player to player.
- The more information you give us, the better the job we can do for you!
- Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose and subsequently can be very difficult to solve. If any problems you experience are intermittent make sure to let us know and we will do our very best to solve them where we can. This may require repeat visits or extended time in the shop with a technician to work through with you.
